Archie Chen
 

 

American pianist Archie Chen has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia receiving many honours and awards, including the Blüthner Piano Scholarship (Leipzig), first prize at the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition and the New York Classical Music Society's Artist of the Year Award 2013.

 

Archie Chen holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Degrees in Piano Performance from Indiana University, with post-graduate honours of the Performer's Certificate and Artist Diploma in Piano Performance. Dr. Chen also holds a Recital Artist Diploma and a Doctorate of Music in Piano Performance from the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin.

 

Dr. Chen has performed at the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centre, Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Vatican Auditorium, the National Concert Hall in Dublin and as soloist with a number of Orchestras including the Washington Symphony and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. He has broadcast in America and Europe, notably with the BBC in the feature film “ Loving Miss Hatto “ and has released 2 CDs of Chopin and Liszt on the Carnegie Artists label.

 

Dr. Chen combines teaching with a busy international concert career and is currently Artistic Director of the Dublin International Piano Festival & Summer Academy and a Founder and Director of the Piano Academy of Ireland.
